Our aircraft tuned exhaust silencers, are designed for a wide range of small aircraft to reduce engine noise whilst improving engine performance.

1°) Benefits

  • Reduces fuel costs: In an average aeroclub, the system pays for itself within a year through fuel savings
  • Reduces maintenance costs: Aircraft engineer can increase TBO by doing an endoscopic check of the cylinders
  • Increases engine's lifetime
  • Improves safety by increasing climb rate and reducing take off distance
  • Increases aircraft's book value and makes it easier for sale
  • Increases return on aircraft operations through huge noise reduction
  • Gain in cabine comfort makes the aircraft the prefered choice of instructors and club members
  • Gain in circuit noise makes it the prefered choice of the CFI and club manager

2°) Overview

A Better Flying Experience – Quieter, Smoother and More Comfortable
Improve pilot comfort and security by reducing the noise level inside your cabin, and reduce pilot exhaustion on long trips – as proved by French Civil Aviation tests. Our silencers are a great answer to noise restrictions and environmental problems around airfields.

Increase Engine Lifetime - Get More for Your Investment
The tuned exhaust improves engine lifetime by decreasing the operating temperature of the cylinder and head.

Actually Increases Engine Performance
The silencer/ tuned-exhaust system does not reduce engine power …in fact performance is actually improved as demonstrated by in-flight tests undertaken by the CEV (French national flight test centre). The system reduces fuel consumption and is designed to avoid aerodynamic turbulence.

Easy Access for Repair or Replacement of Silencer Components
The silencer unit is easily accessible for quick and thorough inspection, removal, or replacement of worn parts, without any need to retrofit the exhaust and cowling. This reduces aircraft grounding time and maintenance costs. Set-up time is around four hours.

Works on all Engine Types and Most Small Aircraft
The system fits on all types of engines - atmospheric, turbocharged, petrol and diesel, on almost all types of small aircraft.

Proved, Guaranteed Quality and Performance
The system is made from high quality durable stainless steel or inconel 625, and is guaranteed for three years or 1500 hours. It is internationally patented and complies with EASA AIR0191 Standard 1TTi1A1, and EASA agreement FR21G0195.
The system has been proved by the European STAC (Technical Services of Civil Aviation) to achieve noise reductions:
• 9.3 dB(A) for a Cessna 172
• 14.6 dB(A) for a Cessna 152
Note:Every 3 dB(A), the noise is reduced by half.

A Foretaste of the new regulation
The DGAC (french CAA) is currently working on a new regulation to manage noise issues around airfields. This project called GENIAL would classify aircraft on the basis of their noise emission in the circuit. Our silencers are setting the benchmark in term of achievable noise reduction. Thus, the manufacturers are deeply involved with the DGAC in the working out of the protocol.

3°) Description

The system consists of 3 parts:
  1. a tuned exhaust
  2. a silencer
  3. a protective boot with attachment collars and security cables
  • Weight & Length:
    • DR400: Weight 7.5kg Length 1.60m
    • Cessna 150: Weight 6 Kg Length 1.50m
  • Noise Attenuation: up to 60%
    • Cessna 152: 14.6 dB(A)
    • Cessna 172: 9.3 dB(A)
    • P28A: 4.8 dB(A)
  • Made of stainless steel or inconel 625
  • Technology internationally patented
  • European EASA certified (STC), FAA on request

Tuned exhaust

  • A four-in-one
  • Four exhaust manifolds
  • One connection branch
  • According to the basic principle of tuning the exhaust, each pipe has exactly the same length and volume.
  • The 4 in 1 collector increases engine’s torque and power, through a better mix of exhaust gaz.
  • Carburettor heating (anodized aluminium)
  • Cabin heating (anodized aluminium)
  • Protective boot with collars and security cables

Silencer

The silencer's functioning is based on two principles : Diffraction and absorption.
  • An expansion chamber with holes in the inner chamber ensures diffraction of the noise wave.
  • An absorbent material between the inner and outer chambers provides absorption and soundproofing.

Double Flow silencer

The double flow silencer may be used with various types of aircraft:
  • Installation and maintenance are fast and easy. The gain in time is estimated at around 40% on current practise's.
  • No changes to the engine cowling are required.
  • It sits on the exterior, under the centre of the fuselage, attached to the tuned exhaust by a protective boot, collars, silent blocs and security cables, which also serve as an earthing strap. Easy to check and extra secure.
  • Completely demountable, all component pieces are interchangeable.
